Congratulations to Ed Smale on receiving his Sports Scholarship at a recent Faculty of Science Event from Prof. Zoe Wilson.
Ed's scholarship is for weightlifting (or making and moving around very large rotaxanes). Ed was the British Senior Champion in 2021 in the 89 kg category, selected for the 2021 Commonwealth Championships Team, and in the Commonwealth Games Training Squad in 2022.
The UoN Sport Scholarship programme supports the most talented athletes at the University. It is an exceptionally competitive selection process with over 650 applications this year with 174 sport scholars supported. Their scholarship includes a cash award and access to support services including Nutrition, Sport Psychology, Performance Lifestyle Advising, Physiotherapy and Strength and Conditioning. They also receive free access to UoN sport facilities and scholarship kit.
