Heavy Metals: Ed Lifts His Way to Victory!

Over the past few weeks, Ed Smale, 3rd year PhD student in the group and a University Sports Schloar, has competed at a couple of weightlifting competitions. This included his first international competition and BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport). Ed came 3rd at the International event in Malta by lifting 136 kg in the Snatch and 170 kg in the Clean and Jerk. At BUCS he lifted 138 kg in the Snatch and 166 kg in the Clean and Jerk, coming 1st and winning by 53 kg. This was his 4th win at BUCS.
